Oh there it is..
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
8500 for a "mint" Yugo. Although that dent in the front fender and the lack of a shot of the drivers seat bottom makes me think they are talking about maybe someone spilled some mint tea in there and that is what they mean
Maybe that is what stained the door cards at least

Did they even sell for that much new?

I'd say this was more "parked and forgotten about" rather than "stored for 20 years"

considering how old those tires are judging by the tread I would imagine the first time that engine goes down the highway every gasket and hose will turn to dust, and the tires, and the brake hoses, and the body, and the interior

seriously, silly CL people. You should send this one to Graverobber

Before my dad picked up the Viggen, we looked at a 900SPG at tho sketchy Russian dudes garage. They had a Yugo there, which was admittedly mint, but still, $7995. Double what it went for new. Like...,why?

I'd much rather buy the snowmobile powered yugo posted before for $2500.00.

Prices on Yugos are going up because of hipsters. No lie. In an effort to be as non conformist as possible they look for the worst boxier cars they can find. It started off with old Volvos and VWs and appears to have moved to Yugos.

the stupidity is strong with that group. Damn

I think I'd offer the guy $1000 if it runs and drives. Every bit of rubber will need replacing and it would be a safe bet to replace all gaskets.
Actually it could make for a "my first engine rebuild" project. It's all pretty simple so hard to mess up and if you do kill it, it's a Yugo and not some classic that won't turn to rust after getting rained on and much cheaper than a modern car.

needs a clutch too though, might move around enough for you to test it though

So the same thing that happened new?

8500? I think he typo-ed in an extra zero

How'd that 20/20 stuff work out for your dad? I don't have cable so I didn't see the episode.

Wow. The Volvos and VWs are likable, it's hard to know how to go further down from a Yugo. Trabant, maybe?

Trabant was actually gonna be my next guess. they may be too rare in the US to be hipster cool. It would look like they're trying too hard. The first two rules of being hipster are to not look like you're trying and never make it clear if you're being sincere or ironic.
In reference to the VWs and Volvos, yes, they're popular within this community but the vast majority or people don't want a box with wheels and 200k on the odometer.
